Purse Cake
I was excited to get to make Amber's 21st Birthday cake. It was a great challenge and a great experience to take on her Louis Vuitton style cake. The cake was vanilla with a vanilla buttercream. Hope you had a great birthday Amber!

Saints Candy!
Being from Louisiana I just had to make some kind of sweet for the game on Sunday. I thought about all different kinds of things that I could do and nothing really stood out. I could do a cake of course but we were going to a small party and I wanted to try a new technique. So on to the cake supply store I went with nothing in mind (which is a bad thing cause I tend to get carried away there). Up and down the aisles I went and I got caught up in the candy isle. I had heard about candy molds before so I thought "Hey if I can find the perfect mold that might be an idea." Holy cow there are so many different types of molds out there and I knew that I just wasn't going to find anything Saints related down here in Florida. Then I saw it...a label on one of the filing cabinet drawers FLEUR DE LIS! BINGO...SCORE...WHOO HOO! I was so excited. It would be the perfect thing. So I did them and I think they came out great! Here are a few pics of the process and if you are going to the party on Sunday these are for you!!

The After Cake
As a cake designer there is a lot of time, energy, and love that goes into the preparation and implementation of every single cake. From the time the cake is sketched to the time the final product is delivered there have been a lot of sweat and tears into a cake. A custom cake can take anywhere from 2 days to sometimes a month depending on the decorations, size, and details.
Once a cake is delivered a big sigh of relief usually follows knowing that the cake is your best work and it has arrived to its destination safely. It is rare that a designer is there once the event starts (unless its a family or friend's event) to see the destruction of their masterpiece.
As some of you may recall I recently did a Beer Bottle Cake for a friend of mine.

It was a great party and a great time had by all. After all the hard work that went into the cake, it was a weird feeling to see the cake after being all cut into pieces.
Here are a couple of the photos of the after cake!
